Gaziantep is in Halay region by its position in Turkey. This region Folk Dance is performed as dancers grab themselves and make a half lune. This lune position is called ‘Halay’ originally. In this region, the Dance is performed mixed as ladies and gentlemen and they perform seperately as well. Zurna and Turkish drum accompany to the dance. The well known ‘Leylim Halay’ dance is performed without zurna and Turkish drum. This ‘Leylim Halay’ is performed with intruments as kaval,duduk,tef and a singer who sings special songs called as ‘turku’. This region is very rich with it’s costumes and accessories.
On head “püsküllü terlik”. “Püsküllü terlik” is surrounded by “Poşu”. On body “Çubuklu ıslık,Aba-cepken”. On hip a hand made Antep region belt is put. Legs are surrounded by a “Şalvar”. Tobacco can is hung from the hip. On feet, hand made knitted socks is put.
Ladies in early ages wears “Tepelik” and “Taç Fes” and on their foreheads and cheek, gold and silver strips are put. On Ladies back “Üçetek” and “Zubun” are put. On their hips “Savatli” belt is put. Under “üçetek”, a “Şalvar” is put. On feet, a pair of hand made knitted socks are put.
