Izmir takes place on the west edge of Turkey. Local Folk Dance of Izmir is a kind of “Zeybek” which is performed slowly. In the villiges arround Izmir, we can ran into slow rhytmic Zeybek Dance and Zeybek musics. As the aspecft of local folk dance, this region is on the most ancient and powerful stage background.

The dances ara performed with the ryhtims of 9/8 and 9/4. Davul,zurna,klarnet,baglama,darbuka accompany to dances.

Getlemen’s costumes:
“Külah” and “Poşu” are worn on the head and “içlik”, “cepken”, scarf, belt, trousers and “Şalvar” are carried on the body. As accessories; gun case, scabberd, knife are used. On the feet, woolen socks, “kalçin” and boats accomplishes the costume.

Ladies costumes:
Woolen socks and a pair of shoes called “Edik” are worn on the feet. Salvar (with the speacial figured fabric), shirt, brightful belt, traditional figured waist and on all of them “Libade” are worn. Head is covered with a golden figured fabric and “Hotoz” is put on this fabric. Pearl, gold and bead are used as jewellery.
